Melbourne Muthamizh Mandram (MMM) was started in 2013 with help of a small group of Indian Tamil friends from Melbourne. Our objective is to promote cultural activities amongst the expatriate Indian Tamil Community within Melbourne. Since then MMM has been conducting the annual Tamil New Year Celebrations, Deepavali, and Pongal Celebrations to keep the tradition and culture active as also promoting Indian Classical dance and music concerts from time to time tapping the talents within the Indian Tamil Community in Melbourne.

As the name explains, MMM emphasizes three basic Tamil elements: Iyal (literature, the spoken and written language), Isai (Music), and Nadagam (Drama). MMM started with one motive and one alone, that is to create an identity and be proud of nurturing our language and culture. Educate and pass on this priceless gift to our next generation.

MMM is not for profit and registered as an incorporated association with Consumer Affairs Victoria. Our activities are generally funded through contributions collected from our members, sponsors, and Government Grants. MMM has risen to the need of the nation in both Australia and India, in particular for Tamilnadu. We have proudly supported and have organized funds and relief material collection for various disaster recovery efforts in Tamilnadu. As for the cultural activities, we actively support in house talents within our members and provide them an opportunity to display their talents. Thanks to the support of our sponsors and the commitment and enthusiastic support of the members, we have been able to successfully deliver our Tamil New Year Celebrations in a grand way year on year.
